With ‘Untold Stories’ – her new art exhibition at the Abecita Museum of Modern Art, we had the opportunity to ask some personal questions to Bolon’s owner, CCO and photographer, Annica Eklund.
MORE THAN BOLON’S OWNER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Annica Eklund, owner of Bolon and creative director by day and fervent passionate photographer by night, has turned her love of photography into a professional occupation and an expression of her deepest passion: constantly finding new ways to inspire and explore her creative impulse.
Annica Eklund’s art is multifaceted. She describes herself as a creative visionary. “I often have a thought and image in my head, but it is still always in the fleeting moment that everything happens and I create from the opportunities that flow past. I’m not a dreamer myself. I push on and make things happen, but in my pictures I want to approach the subtle and magical that I love with the world of dreams. I’m curious. On people and their inner lives. With the camera I get close. Guessing someone’s story or thought based on an expression, a glance, a feeling, these are many times what I take hold of and build on. We all carry stories. The ones we choose to tell and the ones we choose to hide. Untold Stories are captured moments, exposed dreams, an explosion of emotions. Untold Stories is my story.
Untold Stories – Annica’s exhibition in 2019
He has always had a deep passion for photography. 2018 was the year Annica began exhibiting her art professionally, hosting three solo exhibitions in Malmö, Provence, and her hometown, Ulricehamn.
In 2019, Annica is preparing for her first show, where she will take part in an exhibition with Mats Olofsson, famous for his street art photography, and astrophotographer Göran Strand, famous for his photography of the cosmos. The combination of street art, astronomy, fashion, still photography, portraits and landscapes makes the exhibition multi-faceted, showing three different interpretations of the world through the lens of a camera.
STORIES NEVER TOLD
Covering a wide range of styles, the art Annica displays during the exhibition includes images from genres of fashion, landscape, and still life photography. The name of the exhibition refers to the stories that people tell, that they choose to tell and those that they deliberately hide. The stories that have never been told.
Annica explains it in her own words
“I, myself, am not a dreamer. Actually, I push and make things happen, but through my images I want to get closer to the subtle and the magical, what I really love about the world of dreams. I am curious . About people and their inner life. Through the camera, I get closer to people. I perceive their stories or their thoughts from their own personal way. Through details such as an expression, a look or a feeling. Often times, these are the things where I realize why I started to build my profession. Because we all have stories. The ones we choose to tell and the ones we deliberately hide. Untold stories, moments, dreams exposed, an explosion of feelings. Stories Untold is my story. ”
